Find a Deal Fridays

Since I spend much of my time scouring the internet for a great knitting and yarn bargain these days, I figured it might make a great theme post! Why should I be the one to hog all the great deals, right? Usually it won't be a deal I'm thinking, since I plan on posting more than just 1 every week. hehe . Let's see what I came up with for the Grand Opening of Find a Deal Fridays, shall we?

First up, a fabulous group of handspun, hand died micro skein's from Heathernwells Etsy Shop for only $10!! It's one of each of her colour ways. How cute would this be to make squares out of? Or stripey socks?? So incredibly cute. :)
You can also buy the 11-yard skeins for $1.10 each!

Next up, from the website I linked to yesterday,

Handknitting.com, a really fabulous looking 70% Merino and 30% Angora, only in brick red, for $5.50 a skein, when it normally retails for $10.50!! A DK weight, it gets 20 stitches per 4 inches on US size 6-8 needles. There are 130 yards to a skein. Do you think the Angora in it would make the wool less scratchy?

And another wool, this time 100%, because I'm seriously already thinking about my winter knitting. With school starting in September, I'm really going to need most of my Christmas gifts done or on their way to being done before then in order to get them sent off to family by Christmas day. Eep! I'm not seriously looking forward to knitting wool in the summer time, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! This one is going at Smileys for $2.99 which is 62% off of retail. 127 yards per ball, it knits 22 stitches per 4 inches on US size 6 needles and the colours are just so yummy! I worry about it being 100% wool though. Do you like wearing wool? Or do you just make an effort to put something between it and your skin?

And finally, what's a better deal than FREE? Paying for patterns, when yarn is so expensive already, just sorta seems to add insult to injury for me. lol I love being a part of the Ravelry community because there are so many talented people writing fabulous patterns and offering them for absolutely nothing. I have a feeling from the 1099 projects that are listed on the Ravlery site that I'm not the first person to discover this gem. hehe The pattern is here if you'd like to view it for yourself.

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Everyone loves a bargain, so thanks for the tips. About 22 years ago when my kids were little, I made them vests with animals on them. One was bunnies, and the other, I believe, was the same owl motif! I have really been amused by its resurgence.

  2. Hi! Love the blog- it is so crisp and clean. I don't know how to knit, but I do *sort of* know how to crochet. The problem is that nobody is really in the market for a really, really long crocheted chain that never ends. :)
