{Ribbon Yarn}

Smiley's Yarns is offering this really pretty ribbon yarn for CHEAP. 66 Yards of Bulky nylon yarn for a buck. Yes, $1. And I think I might like to try to make something out of it.

What do you guys think? Is knitting with Ribbon weird? What kinds of patterns do you do with Nylon ribbon? I think I like Color #13.

  1. I don't think it is weird to knit with ribbon yarn. I just don't think it has a nice "feel" to it as a fabric, but that is just my opinion. I do like color 13 as well - kinda reminds me of a sunset.

  2. I have a simple scarf pattern that is knit on #13 needles--with ribbon yarn and the result looks beautiful--haven't tried it yet, but with this price, I just may indulge a bit :) The pattern is 12CO, knit in garter stitch for as long as you like....and then beaded fringe added to the end to dress it up. Nice little project for a snowy evening...

    Color #13 is nice....and #4 :)

  3. i see like me you've discovered the wonders of smiley's yarn sales xD

    one thing you should know if you're ordering from smiley's, though, is that i'm pretty sure they have a 50$ min. order policy. so you'd have to order a whole lotta yarn to get the great prices on their yarn.

  4. I am intrigued by mitten yarn, but I'd have to look at Ravelry to figure out what to do with it!

  5. I have a ball of ribbon yarn too, and haven't know what to make with it, so it will be interesting to see what you do. It's in lovely pastel colours though.
