{Big New Cast-Ons}

Yesterday I casted on for the Climbing Vines Pullover and I am so excited! It's assembled back, front and sleeves so I'll get my first lessons in seaming once the pieces are knit. It's going pretty fast so far, I have about 6 inches and have begun the decreases for the hips in the back - so far so good I think. I'm nervous about the size that I'm knitting though and I hope it's going to be okay! I'm knitting a 38 because when I measured the bust on a sweater I like it was 17" flat, meaning 34 bust all the way around, right? lol I know this one won't be as stretchy, so I hope it's going to be fine ... but I'm nervous!

I'm knitting it in this yarn that was gifted to me last month from my friend Hope:

It's Plymouth Encore yarn and so far I'm really enjoying it! I know most people wouldn't knit a sweater in something 75% Acrylic, but it's my first real sweater (not counting that previous disaster *shutter*) so I don't think I would trust some expensive wool or anything just yet!

Wish me luck!

  1. best of luck! you have developed so much this year, I'm sure it'll turn out beautiful, but isn't it the French pattern? I cannot wait to get back to blogging but so far no time... see you in blogland in 2010, if not earlier...

  3. miss peaches - nope, i bailed on the one that's in french, though it was free, and paid $4.40 for this one instead (on sale!) :) It's pretty much the same thing, I think.

  4. Hi, thanks for following my blog. I've been thinking about learning to knit this year as well! I hope you are enjoying college. We have a good friend who was at Roanoke College last year - is that where you are?

    Happy New Year!

  5. That sweater is neat! I also enjoyed looking at your knitting-related Christmas presents! How fun! Please let me know what you think of the harmony needles. They have caught my eye, as well.

  7. I am still not brave enough to branch into the sweater making, I may in the next couple of months though!! the shade of green of that yarn is perfect for the leaf motif's on that pattern too.

  8. Thanks Ms. Bennet! I'm pretty scared of this myself, it's lots of new (or fairly new) skills for me, so I'm just jumping in with two feet! :)
