{Yarn! and Knitting!}
How is it you folks do it? How do you work for 8 or 9 hours a day and still have energy for anything else? This internship has me worried about my ability to function in the real world. When I go to school you see there are days where I work from home and I have a chance to cook and tidy the house and even get some knitting in. It's not like I'm taking easy classes or anything... I'm a Math major, but still. Now this accounting internship (which I am really enjoying! Surprise to me!) is from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday, but since I'm an hour away I'm out of the house from about 7:30 until 6. When I get home I'm not in the mood for anything except vegging out with a bowl of cereal in front of some blogs or a tv show. Once the weekend hits, I don't even bother to get dressed unless I have to go out for groceries or something. lol So I say again... how do you do it!? I know some of you peeps have kids and responsibilities and stuff. LOL
Needless to say, my knitting has consisted of my stockinette Pipit (details to come) , and a VERY easy lace pattern (K2Tog, Yo) kind of stuff for this pretty cowl/ scarf: The Mustard Scarf.
I'm knitting mine is some GORGEOUS aran weight Debbie Bliss Alpaca/Silk that my friend at Susie F Handmade gave me as part of her destash! She gave me two 50g balls of cream and one of black. I'm using size 15 needles for this! They're so cartoonishly large they are cracking me up laughing! It's like knitting with Tent Pegs! hehehe That project is not quite done. I think I'm going to use my large Antler Buttons mom gave me for Christmas LAST year on this one. I'm so excited to wear it!
I'm also excited about buying YARN! I got a $50 rebate for my recent cell phone purchase and have been given the go ahead to use it JUST for buying yarn! YAY! But now that I have the opportunity to buy yarn, I'm so lost in all the choices! Do I buy two skeins of fantastic sock yarn? (one for a shawl, one for socks of course). Do I buy more of something less expensive? I'm always looking to get a great bang for my buck and I want to spend my money somewhere worth while if I'm paying regular retail, ya know?

So here's a few of my options I'm liking:
Lingonberry Jam - SW Merino/nylon sock yarn . $23 + $2.50 shipping from Springtree Road .
Zen Yarn Garden's Squooshy - $23,50 + unknown shipping. I've already had a great experience with socks here. They're washing in the machine great!
I've heard good things about Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock. The nice thing about these is they're about half the price at about $12! I might give this a try. It'd just make my money go so much farther!
I've knit one pair of socks already with Araucania Rancho, but not the sock version with a bit of Nylon. Also a good price for the yardage at $15.
These look really pretty from ToPlyFiberArts:
Sea Glass is 80/20 Superwash and Nylon again, a great price at $15. I like that it's hand dyed by an Etsy artist. She charges $2.50 for shipping, but then only 75 cents for each additional item... hmmmm....
What's your favorite Sock Yarn? Do you dye your own on Etsy? I'd love to see it! What's your favorite online sock store? Let's hear it!
Hey, this is kinda Find A Deal Friday, isn't it? Neato!

{Fat Quarter bundle Pack?}
Hey my sewing friends out there (do I have many of those yet? hehe) I found this cool blog called FatQuarterBonanza.com. They happen to be having a sale on Mystery Bundles of fat quarters. 12 of them for $15 to be precise. Is that a good price? Shipping is about $5 more. What if I get all ugly fabrics that I don't like? I'll feel stupid for having wasted $20.
I'm on the fence about this one. What do you guys think?

{Ribbon Yarn}
Smiley's Yarns is offering this really pretty ribbon yarn for CHEAP. 66 Yards of Bulky nylon yarn for a buck. Yes, $1. And I think I might like to try to make something out of it.

What do you guys think? Is knitting with Ribbon weird? What kinds of patterns do you do with Nylon ribbon? I think I like Color #13.

{Find a Deal Friday}
I just found the most GORGEOUS Etsy Store called Febystan: Land of handmade.
She makes the most intricate and beautiful crochet jewelry. My personal favorite are these little Moon earrings done in a light grey metalic thread and fun coloured beads. So so pretty and the price is reasonable! Love it!
And I've also found PurePurl.com which is a very smart looking website with very pretty yarns. They're more of a normal online store with normal online store prices, but they're having a 10% off all yarns in January. You should go check it out!

oh and psst. I finished the last sleeve of my sweater and I'm gonna sew it in tonight. But don't tell anyone. :P

Yay It's back! You didn't think it was gone for good, did you?
Kyarns.com has a nice selection of discontinued yarns and colours available, with shipping under $5 in the US. The one pictured above is Cascade 220 (the one Jenny was thinking of in the comments of the last post I think), 220 yards for $5, 100% wool. They also have a whole lot of the different Noro yarns in discontinued colours for what looks like a good deal too.
Smiley's Yarns is a favourite of every bargain hunting yarnie, I think. This Filatura Lanarota brand of yarn is new to me. 100% wool, worsted weight, about 100 yards of it for a buck and a half. Some pretty colours too! I love that heathered gray in the back. From the same brand, they have about 100 yards of 100% Alpaca for $2.99. I'm seriously considering this one!
The Fox Hop is having a sale until January 5th, 20% off of batts of yarn and 25% off of hand spun yarn! She's got some super pretty stuff!
Fairy Designs has a bunch of recycled Angora and lambswool for very reasonable prices, and a bunch of it which would be nice for a larger project!
I hope everyone will have a great last weekend of vacation time! :)

Julia's Yarn is new to me, but it looks like she's having a huge Black Friday blow out with some prices more than half off of yarn in bags of 10 or individually. Up to 74% off if you're willing to buy wholesale, meaning 140 skeins at once! That's a LOT of knitting! LOL Tons of other good deals too though, available through friday.
The Loopy Ewe is closed at their brick and mortar store, but is offering some good deals online. From their blog, "30% off all Cherry Tree Hill, Creatively Dyed, Indie Dyer, J. Knits, and Opal. You’ll also find 20% off all Earthly Hues, All Things Heather, Sknitches, Sugar Bunny Blvd, Noro and Schaefer. "
The Interweave Knits store is offering 20% off of all patterns purchased this weekend.
And of course, one of my favorite Etsy stores, Yarntopia, has such amazing prices, she belongs in with this Black Friday grouping. Her prices are AMAZING and her yarn is so so so beautiful!

Find a Deal!
Okay you guys, I found the COOLEST Etsy store! It's called KNotes for KNitters and Maggie, the owner, has some of the greatest knitting accessories I've ever seen.
My very favourite is her Pirate Knitting Bags!! These totally made me crack up laughing:

I think these bags are an absolute Hoot for $12.95! She also carries some great hand lotions, bookmarks, magnets, and fiber care tags:
Girl Riding Sheep, Set of 8 for $3.95

Always with those pesky husbands, huh? ;) Check back for Holiday designs coming soon in her shop! Oh, and certainly don't forget to check in with Darcy's Knotty Knitter, where you can enter a give away for some of Maggie's proprietary "Happy Hands" lotion!
"Making the art I do pleases me because I can rescue the antique & vintage
photos I love and breathe a second life into them, sending them back out into

Find a Deal Fridays!
I've found some fun yarns to show you today!
From Yarn Treasures, which I'm sure I've featured before, I found this gorgeous wool/silk blend.

Gorgeous! For just under $10 you get 360 yards of sport weight! I think this is just soooo pretty. Lace scarf anyone? They've got 119 listing, all of which were very reasonably priced.
Oh my gosh, LOVE this one! I think I have a new favourite colour!!

This yarn is called Papaya and Coconut and it's from PortFiber. MMMMMmmmmm. It's 430 of Superwash Merino/Nylon and just a tad under $13.50. She says it's a summer colour, but I think it's dripping the crispness of fall, don't you?
And I don't think I've mentioned Smiley's for a while, but there's a bunch of new yarns under $2 a skein, the following are just a few examples! (click the picture to be taken to their respective websites).

Enjoy your weekend everyone! I finished my Fair-isle hat and it's matching crochet scarf tonight. I'll be sure to post pics tomorrow!

OMG! Find a Deal Friday!
How can it seriously be friday again? I was just saying to a fellow student that I can't BELIEVE we've been in school for two and a half weeks already. This is insane.
These deals? Maybe a little less "insane" so to say, but still way cool. hehe
Knitpicks.com has got this 40% off of fall books, including this one below, which I'm a huge fan of. Usually I don't like the felted look because it's just sorta not my cup of tea. This bag though? TOTALLY cute. I want it!!
Plus there are a bunch of other sweaters, scarves and accessories I'd love to knit. This book is less than $14, and you don't pay shipping if you spend over $50 from their site. Who couldn't find $50 worth of stuff that they want from Knit Picks?
See this beautiful yarn right here? It's from Portland Fibre Gallery and Weaving Studio... on sale!
Aren't the colours gorgeous? I wish I could live in the fall season all year 'round! This skein is a worsted weight merino, about 300 yards, for $13.50. There's so much else that's pretty at this Etsy store too. Check it out!
Maybe you're more a spinner than a knitter? Don't fret! Fall is out there for you too!

Doesn't it look like beautiful pumpkin patches?? I love it! Head on over to A Fine Fleece's Etsy store to check this one out! 4.8 ounces of merino and wool blended for $10.75. Wouldn't this make a great Christmas present for your favorite blogger? Maybe along with say... one of these?

Find a Deal Fridays!
Yay! On time this week!
KnitPicks.com has got some great deals happening for their kits right now, including one "Design Your First Sweater" kit that include 15 50oz balls of of their Wool of the Andes for just under $20. They include the pattern for the top-down sweater (with different cuff, hem, and neck options). It looks like this:

The sweater design isn't my favourite, but that saves you about 1/3 of the cost of the wool! I'm sure I could figure *something* to do with all that. ;)
Poppy Flower Fibers on Etsy (and out of Boulder, CO) is having a great sale for the month of September, too. She's offering 25% off all sock yarn, plus free shipping to the US and Canada. And oh my gosh, she has some GORGEOUS fall colours to drool over:

Too bad I've sworn off sock yarn, or I'd be ALL OVER this!! Wow, so many gorgeous skeins over there. Oh, and this one is Merino wool, 440 yards of fingering for $16.50.
From what I can tell, there are some people out there who LOVE their Noro, and I happened to stumble upon Webs' closeout sale on some discontinued colours of Silk Garden Lite. Dudes: 137 yards of DK weight for $6.49 (normally $11.99). The pictures are kinda tiny, so click through to check that one out.
Lastly, before I'm done with this week's FADF, I'll share with you my new find, www.littleknits.com . You can find whole bags for 70% off retail! An entire bag (meaning 10 skeins @141 yards each) of this beautiful wool blend for $40. Wow! And they have tons of other colours too!

Happy shopping everyone! Have you started your Christmas knitting yet? :)

Find a Deal ... Saturday?
Now with new and improved Picture Clicking! (duh? Why didn't I have this before?)
Well, I knew it would happen eventually, sadly. It's Saturday and I forgot Find a Deal Fridays yesterday! Ack! So with that behind us, we'll dive right in. Labor Day sales galore!
Gosh I love recycled yarn! MichMashYarns has a whole bunch of it for 20% off of their regular prices! My favourite:

100% Lambswool! 250 Yards of it, worsted weight, for $3.20. Fab! There are about 30 other yarns to choose from at her Etsy store, so definitely go check out all her recycled goodness.
I'm tellin' ya, I did NOT expect to find a great deal at such a great dyer! BareSheepYarn has marked down this beautiful hand dyed skein, called Jenny:

120 yards of Super Wash Merino for $9.99! Super pretty. I want a hat made of this. :)
Smiley's Yarns has a few new ones I saw today too. Big Tuft Merino is 80% off retail at $1.99 per 27 yards. And Paton's SWS, made of wool and soy mixed, is more than 50% off at $2.99. I think the one that makes me the most excited, though, is the Roywan Soft Luxe below! For three bucks you get 137 yards of worsted weight Wool/Cashmere/Nylon blend. I LOVE that sable colour (the taupey-browny one). It's called Rowan Soft Lux.
