I Have A Friend! YAY!

Today I met Lisa from GroggyFroggy.blogspot.com! What a sweetheart, both her and her hubby! We met up today at a book store coffee shop to knit and chat and drink coffee and it was so much fun. Conversation was easy and we had a lot to talk about, which is always what I'm most worried about when I meet someone new.

Here she is with the evidence of a finished Oreo Brownie and my empty Chai tea:

After a couple of hours of me staring in awe at her crochet and her staring in awe of my knitting, we packed it up and went to the Michaels close by because neither of us usually gets a chance. We had coupons, you see! My purchase was a bit of a splurge because I really don't have a project in mind, but it was such a good deal! I got two balls of Bernat Alpaca in a beautiful greyish greenish colour, (and it is so incredibly soft!) for $5. I keep wanting to rub it against my face! hehehe

The most popular pattern on Ravelry for this yarn is these cabled mittens:

And even though they're totally beautiful, I'm not sure about them. Opinions?

All in all, it's been a GREAT Saturday and I hope that Lisa and I manage to get together more often once I'm going to school in Roanoke all the time. :)

  1. You are such a sweetheart! And fast! I can't upload my pic until the computer is fixed, hopefully Monday or Tuesday. I would have described the visit exactly the same way. I enjoyed every minute of it! Those mittens are amazing. I bet they'd feel good on campus this winter. You didn't tell them about my pitiful little sugar n cream purchase. hehe

  2. I want to know about the pitiful little sugar n cream purchase!! lol

And I love those mittens- they make me crave fall and I think they're gorgeous how they are extra long like that.

I am so jealous someone got to meet you, as I've been dying to do the same!

  4. The colour of that yarn is really beautiful! Green is my absolutely favourite colour, and if I didn't stop myself I would probably make everything I knit for myself in green...

This is the most boring part with reading blogs: I'm in Sweden, and will probably never meet half of the people I talk with online. On the other hand, it might be an incentive to actually save up the money and visit the states one day... If only flying wasn't so darn expensive!

Oh, and by the way, I think the mittens look great too, I really love the cables!

  6. I think they look like oven mitts. :-) Way too bulky for my taste. Just my opinion!

  7. Sounds like you had a great meet up!

I love those mitts. Someone in my knitting group just made them for her daughter and they look great.

They may be bulky (lol- oven mitts!) but they are definitely in style. And I bet they are warm too. Someone on Ravelry made them with a flip top and they look great and are a whole lot more practical.

I plan on making a pair at some point.
